Physical Education

Symonds Physical Education

Physical Education concentrates on the development of the whole child including their physical, cognitive, and social development. Students are guided through a series of developmentally appropriate units that introduce a variety of skills and activities in each unit. These are intended to help children become thoughtful, skillful movers who show the ability to use teamwork and collaboration with peers in a physically active setting. During every class there is an emphasis on physical fitness. The components of health-related fitness are cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility. Elements such as jump roping, running, push-ups, sit-ups, and stretches focus on these components of fitness.
